50% of MGL Unnati students qualify for IIT
More than 50% of the students enrolled in the MGL Unnati qualified for IIT by clearing the JEE (Advance) successfully.
MGL Unnati is the CSR initiative of MGL for free coaching of meritorious children from economically weaker sections of the society for prestigious engineering institutions. This year in the project’s fourth batch 30 students were enrolled , of which 16 have cleared the JEE Advance. Earlier this year the entire batch had performed remarkably in the JEE Mains.
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) being a socially responsible Corporate saw the need to help meritorious children from weaker sections of the society in Mumbai and nearby areas, who have the talent to compete in IIT/NIT but do not have the means to bear the expenses of costly private coaching institutes. Hence MGL tied up with Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership Delhi in 2013-14, which conducts Abhayanand Super 30 Program of coaching students for JEE entrance exams in various parts of the country.
Students from the last three batches of MGL Unnati having cleared JEE mains have found place in IITs, NITs and state engineering colleges. The year 2017 -18 is going to be a milestone year for the project, when the first batch of MGL Unnati students (2013-14) are expected to graduate out of their engineering colleges and secure jobs.
The project in the fourth batch now and through this initiative MGL has been able to touch the lives of 80 boys and girls.
