Mahanagar Gas Limited’ s Green Initiative
On the occasion of the upcoming World Environment Day celebrated across the globe on June 5th 2017, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), one of India’s leading City Gas distributors has gone a step further to transform Mumbai into a greener city. By leasing CNG Fueled Honda – BRV for its Senior Management Team through ORIX, MGL has reaffirmed its zeal for a greener environment
The induction of these CNG fuelled cars was formally done at the hands of Mr. Rajeev Mathur Managing Director – MGL, in presence of officials of MGL and Honda.
These new vehicles have been retrofitted with OBD II Compliant Sequential Fuel Injection CNG kit. These were the first lot of Honda - BRVs from Mumbai to be certified by ‘International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT)’ for CNG Fitment. The induction of these vehicles is an attempt to bust the myth of under-performance of retrofitted CNG vehicles.
MGL now boasts of an entire fleet of vehicles including Cars and LCVs required for organizational use being fueled by CNG, only reinforcing the company’s commitment towards greener and cleaner fuel.
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has always advocated the using CNG for a greener environment and with over 5.5 lakh CNG vehicles in and around Mumbai, the city has surely benefited with this alternative, safer and economical fuel option.
Today, the entire fleet of taxis, auto rickshaws, and majority of BEST buses, private cars and even heavy motor vehicles in and around Mumbai run on CNG supplied by MGL through a network of 203 CNG filling stations having 1135 dispensing points. Use of CNG today is reducing vehicular emissions by about 1300 tonnes per day making a significant improvement in city’s environment. MGL’s initiative on the eve of World Environment Day is a small step towards achieving its vision of a pollution free environment.
