MGL's Safety Campaign Launched

Mahanagar Gas Limited has undertaken a Safety Campaign during the period January to March 2011. The objective of this campaign is to create awareness about safe usage of PNG among our domestic consumers, to emphasize on general safety precautions and also the necessary precautions in case of emergencies.

The Safety Campaign has been undertaken through various media including print, radio, poster etc. It details the precautions to be taken in case of emergency, besides regular basic precautions such as avoiding digging near gas pipelines, avoiding throwing rubbish near gas installations are highlighted. We are also reiterating our warning to the people to be ware of fraudulent persons or agencies posing as MGL representatives.

MGL has always emphasized on Safety. To ensure safety, MGL has put in place robust systems and processes which match with the best in the world. MGL has adopted a Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSS&E) Management system which provides a framework for continual improvement in its performance. An Emergency control room with a toll free number 1800 22 99 44 is available 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year. Besides this "Dial-before-Dig" an initiative to monitor road digging activities of various agencies and other measures for continual pipeline surveillance also contribute to the safety of the system. A fleet of 12 fully equipped emergency vans stationed at strategic locations are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and have an unblemished performance record of reaching emergency site within 30 minutes.

MGL is concerned for the safety of its consumers and through such Safety campaigns it only reaffirm its concern.
