Homage to Martyrs and formal handing over of operatorship of MGL's CNG Outlet to the family of Martyr Late Shri Tukaram Omble

To commemorate the second anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack, as a tribute to the martyrs, Hon'ble Minister for Home Affairs , Shri P. Chidambaram in the presence of Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Shri Murli Deora , Hon'ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, formally handed over the operatorship of MGL’s CNG Outlet at Magathane to the family of Martyr Late Shri Tukaram Omble.

The heroic and selfless act of Government Security personnel in fighting the terrorists, who had launched a barbaric attack against innocent people of Mumbai city during 26-28th November 2008, touched the hearts of millions of countrymen. As soon as Hon'ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Murli Deora learnt about the supreme sacrifice, he immediately decided to do something for the rehabilitation of the martyrs' families. His concern culminated into a unique initiative of allotting Retail Outlet dealerships/LPG Distributorship/operatorship of CNG Filling Stations to dependants of the martyrs.

In line with the vision of the Hon'ble Minister and as a part of the initiative, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) made its contribution and extended the operatorship of three CNG filling stations to the dependants of the martyrs. The first outlet was offered at the kind hands of Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Murli Deora in February last year to the family of Late Shri Hemant Karkare. The operations of the other outlets at Magathane and Dindoshi were handed over to the family of Late Shri Tukaram Omble and Late Shri Vijay Salaskar respectively.

Speaking on the occasion Shri V C Chittoda, Managing Director mentioned "MGL considers this as a tribute to the Martyrs and is privileged to contribute a bit towards rehabilitation of their families."
