Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has been contributing towards the health of auto rickshaw & taxi drivers through various CSR initiatives. In furtherance of this initiative, MGL organized a free Eye Check up Camp for the taxidrivers at Lower Parel on 30th October 2010.
The camp was inaugurated by Shri M.P.Bhave, Dy RTO, Tardeo in the presence of MGL's Technical Director Mr. Allan Perrin, Vice President (HR &CC) Mr. S.N.Suri and Asst. Vice-President (O &M) Mr. S.Murali
While inaugurating the camp, Shri Bhave appreciated MGL for its social initiative for the health and welfare of the taxi drivers.
Mr. Allan Perrin mentioned on the occasion that MGL emphasizes on the safety and health of the taxi and auto drivers as they are one of their major consumers.
About 150 taxi drivers availed of the free eye check up at this camp. The taxi drivers were overwhelmed by MGL's gesture.
The camp was organized in coordination with the auto unions, through a team of Ophthalmologists from Guru Nanak Hospital. Besides checking the eyes the beneficiaries were given basic information on eye care.
Similar eye check up camps had been organized by MGL for auto drivers at Bandra, Kandivili, Mira Road,Thane and Navi Mumbai in the past few months. Taking this initiative further this camp was organized for the taxi drivers in South Mumbai. MGL proposes to organize more such camps for the benefit of auto rickshaw and taxi drivers.
In addition to the Eye Check up, for creating safety awareness in usage of CNG MGL’s Mobile Safety Van equipped with audio visuals on Safety was stationed on the location for educating the CNG taxi users.
