MGL observes Safety Week with focus on safety awareness among Migrant labourers.

Mumbai, March 9, 2009: Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has always emphasized on highest level of health, safety and environment.

With the National Safety Week kicking off from March 4 to March 10, MGL lined up series of activities beginning with the Safety Pledge administration to all employees on March 4 which was celebrated as National Safety Day.

The week long activities besides being spread across all the offices of MGL also involved safety awareness activities at project sites and a CNG Meet at the Acres Club at Chembur on March 6, 2009.

Attractions of the week long program were a Migrant Labour road show at Airoli and Kanidvali .Over 100 contract labours working at the steel project site were given a run down about the various safety aspects implemented by MGL. An awareness film on excavation safety was shown to the labourers. Posters and displays about migrant labour upliftment and safety measures adopted by MGL at the project sites also featured in the road show.

While the festivities were not only confined to the employees of MGL, the family members also participated in the drawing and essay competition on safety. The week was concluded with safety skits, safety housie and distribution of awards to prize winners of various competitions.
