Allotment of operation of CNG Outlets to the families of Martyrs by Mahanagar Gas Limited, Mumbai.

The heroic and selfless act of Government Security personnel in fighting the terrorists, who had launched barbaric attack against innocent people of Mumbai city during 26-28th November 2008, touched the hearts of millions of countrymen. As soon as Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Murli Deora learnt about the supreme sacrifice, he immediately decided to do something for the rehabilitation of the martyrs' families. He called an emergency meeting of Heads of all Oil and Gas Companies to examine the best possible options for providing sustainable financial relief to the dependants of the martyrs. A number of meetings followed there after and under the direction and advice of Shri Murli Deora, a special scheme was conceived. The scheme provides for allotment of Retail Outlet dealerships/LPG Distributorship/CNG Filling Stations to dependants of the martyrs, who laid down their lives during the Mumbai terror attack.

In line with the vision of the Hon’ble Minister, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) offered to allot operatorship of four CNG filling stations to the dependants of the martyrs. The first outlet was offered at the kind hands of Hon'ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Murli Deora on 27th February 2009 to the family of Late Shri Hemant Karkare and is already being operated by Smt Karkare since 1st March 2009.

The allotment letters for remaining three outlets at Dindoshi, Magathane and Deonar were also handed over to the beneficiaries in February 2009. While the operation of the first two outlets will commence by December 2009, the outlet at Deonar will be operational shortly thereafter.

The entire process of allotment has been facilitated on priority by MGL, by maintaining continuous communication with the allottees. Even the individual allotment of the filling stations has been made considering the convenience of the family. MGL is also facilitating training the operational staff and the concerned family representatives in handling day to day operations of these filling stations.

The operation instrument has been devised in such a manner that it will ensure a fixed earning for the family.
